Open House & Career Fair 2006

Finally the moment that we had all been waiting for and the experience
was sheerly and utterly an enthrilling experience.

Well!!!! Not quite, open houses were not what I had expected, most
people were not what I had expected. Company representatives arent
really interested in the projects or a persons abilities(Most
Companies:: No offense intended), most of their descisions are based
on GPA and they only consider candidates that they have prematurely
shortlisted. I know, that sucks. Makes me repent that fact that I
wrote my GPA on my CV in the first place. Even though I have a job and
all, there must be a lot of poor little kids like me that dont get
that lucky, they shouldve studied harder.

The days before the Open house were equally hectic, finishing the
project, designing a poster, getting it printed, gettting brochures,
running between the room and the faculty, meetings with the advisors,
presentations to the faculty, a dozen reports and stuff, something
that has been burdening my shoulders since a long long time. And now,
quite frankly speaking I'm glad to get rid of it. Now I can
concentrate on the more important stuff in life, such as how to
graduate on time.

The Open house itself was 2 days of standing and presenting projects 8
hours each day and then carriying PC's 1.5 KM from the hostel to the
workshop so I really intend to sleep, A LOT!!!!!

Last three weeks at GIKI and from what info I'm getting from graduates
nowadays, this is the best that life gets, I'm not sure whether to
pray that it passes or wish that I get more of GIKI. What I will miss
though is the freedom till October the second, after that Seattle here
I come. Some tests by companies have made me realise that I really
need to brush up on my C++. Moreover landing a job kind of like makes
it harder to concentrate during job tests. :D

Anyways people are applying to microsoft round the clock this time and
I hope lots and lots of people make it, I'm going to need all the
company from GIKI in particular that I can get.
