PC-BSD Up and Running

Finally 4 hours of khawaari[mental torture] lead me to finally install PC-BSD
from CD1. The fact that I relied on i.e. that the faculty proxy is fast, has
just been nullified. The speed dropped from 40K to 3K today. Murphy's law!!!!
[google for it]. now I have to download and install all the necessary
software which include but are not limited to:-

OpenOffice
Java
Mozilla Firefox
NetBeans

Hopefully this is the start of a new and more stable operating system. Windows
crashes, viruses, spyware and the likes were really affecting my throughput.
And now that I'm a compilers T-A, the only tools I'm using are Java, Python,
gcc, Office, Acrobat, Media Players, Downloading, Browsing etc ...

So I hope that this move is for the better.

Plus 101 TAship is a hassle because the 101 Lab has 1/4 windows PC's. Really
old PC's with windows installed. I really dont know why they havent been
installed with Linux. I mean linux is the thing to breathe new life into old
and dying hardware. So sometimes I need to set up an FTP server and the 1 CD
version of Ubuntu does not come bundled with it. I need to also Download
Knoppix and burn it, but on 3 K bandwidth I guess we can safely assume that
it'll take ages.

Note to Self : Get webmin up and ready too, you'll need it someday.

Okay dudes see you next time.
