Reunions Reunions Reunions
Eid although it is the most boring day of the year and I stick to that, the days before and after can be quite interesting because you end up meeting all sorts of old friends. While coming here, I met Ali Eeman in Islamabad and came to Lahore on the same bus. It was good to get info about lots of old friends. He's working at Askari, something to do with safe investments. Ali Irshad I found out was working at PNG. Bravo Ali Irshad Bravo :). Mustafa Hamdani's working at a Telecom company in Isloo, Hazik's working at Interwood. Well our O-Levels batch of 2000 is all working. Its a practical batch for a practical generation.
Today I met Mohammad Tayyab after so long. He dropped by my place and later on we grabbed subs gobbled them down and headed off to Jarri's. The Beconite gang has been less active in the last two years. Saady boy has gotten himself at Slumberger and hes was last seen on MSN reporting from France somewhere near the louvre. Looks like he's having fun in exchange of working his arse off. Mughni and Zaki are .seen nowhere, Wacky is @ GIK with me, everyone is upto something or somewhere. Kashi is working at a company called Microtech something to do with upper management. Anyways, the gears are churning, the wheels are turning its been fun getting to know that everyone and everything turned out alright. :D
Wait a minute its only just thursday I got a good 2 more days at Lahore. Lets see what else Lady Luck has in store for me.

Eid Comes
Before this Eid I mean just before, the conditions at GIK were most favorable. If I went to the bank to pay a mess bill, I'd be the first in line and none of that waiting. If I went to play table tennis, the tables would be empty. I'd read when I wanted to, I'd sleep when I wanted to. Thats the great thing during exams about being a faculty member. Things couldnt be better.
Then all of a sudden it came. Time to go home for Eid. The day I regard to be the most boring day of the year came crashing down on me like a 200 pound brick. I copied all the TV series I could get my hand on before leaving (courtesy Raptor), but they werent enough. While coming home I had to wait an hour at every stop. An hour for getting the Topi to Pindi van, more than an hour for Daewoo. I knew everything couldnt be right. However once I got here, I started reading and watching TV series. I noticed that it wasnt that much different except for the fact that if you went somewhere you'd keep getting phonecalls all the time. There isnt really anything special about being home for Eid. Its just normal. Being a kid was a different experience when you'd wait year long for Eidhi and maybe later on buy something like ram for your computer and be really happy with the increase in throughput. Kids!!!!!!
Lots of things have lost their charm nowadays. I guess this is due to adulthood without lots of responsibilities. Watching movies/series isnt as much fun as it was, games have lost their appeal, chocolate isnt that great anymore. Tasty Food isnt the answer to every problem.
Ahhhh!!!!! What the heck, before all of you guys decide to close your browsers I'll say it.
Eid Mubarak to you all

A heartful Iftari
Yesterday was an iftar party of a different kind, a group of TA's called the 101 TA Gang came up with an idea of an iftar party. A bit of planning and it was decided. Fruit chat & Chicken Karahi were supposed to be the main attraction. Obaid, Mumtaz, Asif and Uzair set off cooking and making stuff. The head cook was Obaid.
Anyways I came in at about 5:40 when everything was made and waiting to be devoured. I was amazed to look at the quantity of Chat. What does six people and lots of food mean. Yes you guessed it, six stuffed people who cant even move their own weight. Two hours of munching and crunching and we were almost out. In the end, everything ended with tea and jalebi. That settled everything down. Half an hour and we were able to walk around.
We ought to have more 101 Iftar parties in the future. In fact we were even discussing the feasibility of making our very own 101 hotel. There was lots of fun and laughter and the main joke was when Qamar who practically ate nothing heard about the bill we were supposed to pool in, ate the remaining chat with such vigor that it seemed that he'd been hungry since a week.

The start of another blog
Okay this is me again and I'm announcing that I've started another blog for FreeBSD where I shall put up BSD stuff, problems and solutions. The main motivation behind making this blog is to give something back to the internet. I'm no expert in BSD. I've been using it for just around 4 days, however lots of people face problems and with better documentation, problems will hurt less.
I also intend to put up my Compilers Lab material up on the internet for hungry minds out there.
Regards,
Iqbal Talaat Bhatti
